Online Therapy: Taking a Not Knowing Position
Speaker: Richard P. Long, PhD, LMFT
CE Credits: 1.5
This course is provided by the Telehealth and Technology Network; find out more and how to join at www.aamft.org/tin.
“Nothing is permanent but change,” said the Greek philosopher Heraclitus fifty-eight hundred years ago. If that is true, then we as therapists have a responsibility to consider what it means to provide clients an alternative to in-person therapy—delivery via technology-assisted services, telehealth, telemental health, or online therapy. With the publication of 2017 Report of the Online Therapy Workgroup, MFT’s can no longer take a not knowing’ position when it comes to delivering therapy online. This presentation will provide participants with an overview of ethical and regulatory issues, training programs, clinical issues and selected best practice guidelines for the delivery of therapy using telehealth.
